Nurse practitioners work in a variety of settings across the province: as part of collaborative family practice teams, in emergency departments, mental health and addictions, chronic disease and wellness, perioperative (surgical) services, long term care, and many other clinical settings. Our nurse practitioners provide preceptorship opportunities for students, as well as hold management roles, informing quality improvement and clinical practice.
They work autonomously to diagnose, order and interpret tests and diagnostic imaging investigations, prescribe and perform procedures. The NP works to admit, transfer, accept transfer of and discharge within the legislated scope of practice.
